Autumnal Floral Home styling
I don’t know about you but I love Autumn! The warm days and cooler nights, Jumpers and blankets and leaves crunching under foot. And pumpkins, I love pumpkins! They make a wonderful addition to your autumn décor and are not just for the doorstep!
Here are some of our autumnal pumpkin suggestions, just for you!
- Paint them!
Orange not your colour? Then get your most beautiful chalk pain out and paint that pumpkin! You can go for a full colour change, or just paint your house number for a seasonal warm welcome. We have been known to spray paint ours black, rose gold and copper!
- Plant them!
This year you will find our succulent pumpkin planters on our website, but if you want to give it a go at home here’s how
-find the best size gourd for your plant (think of depth as well as width)
--using the top of the plant pot (take you plant our first) roughly trace the diameter you need to cut out of your pumpkin
-This part can take a while! Being careful not to pierce the bottom of your chosen gourd, keep carving around your plant pot mark until you can pull or scoop the centre out.
- remove all seeds and flesh in the way of your plant fitting in
-pop you plant in and cover the edges with moss
We always suggest popping these on a saucer or platter as they can get a little sappy! These can last up to three weeks before your gourd looses its shape.
3.Make a dining table centre piece.
Using all your beautiful accessories, platers, candles or lanterns you can make a stunning and seasonal table centre. Choose a variety of sizes of the same colour gourd for real impact. Our suggestion is the beautiful Baby Boo! This gorgeous white/cream pumpkin is our favourite!
- Make a pumpkin floral display!
We have so much fun making these! For added impact we paint our pumpkins after hollowing them out.
-use some cellophane/plastic bag to cover the cavity if using floral foam or to go foam free use a vase or jam jar.
-Pick a complimentary display of flowers and foliage to create a one of a kind floral pumpkin.
We hope you all love pumpkins as much as we do! But for something a little different our September top floral picks are
-Hydrangeas! Pick a multi toned bloom for drying at home
-Gladiolus. So may colours to choose from.
-Dahlias. There are some amazing local growers, or pop in to see our British grown blooms.
Until next time,
Hayley
